What is Reading Bowl?
The PHS Reading Bowl Club and Team is a cross between an academic bowl style competition team and a book club. The members of the Reading Bowl Club read the twenty nominated titles for the Georgia Peach Award for Teen Readers for the current school year. During the Fall Semester, the club members meet twice a month during club periods and at least twice a month after school. Members discuss the books, and analyze the books for possible trivia questions. In the Spring, the PHS Reading Bowl team competes with other schools in the State in a Sudden Death style trivia competition over the content of the books. The end of the season aligns with the release of the book list for the next school year and the process begins again.
